Parents should really reconsider spending more time talking to their children on the phone, as it seems it can improve their relationship

Parents always complain how their children do not turn to them when they have a problem or how the relationship between them is almost inexistent.

Well, what parents do not know is that they can take advantage of what the kids nowadays are into (technology such as computers and phones) in order to get a chance to improve the quality of their relation. According to a group of scientists, it seems that talking on the phone with your children can improve a great deal your relationship. Furthermore, what they seem to think is that who initiates the call, the tone of the conversation and the subject on which the discussion is based are among the most important things when it comes to having a great bond between parents a children. Study author Robert Weisskirch, M.S.W., Ph.D., seems to think that parents can do so much more in what concerns this type of relationship through the phone: they can monitor their children’s whereabouts, they can check how the children are doing in school and they can even provide criticism over the phone, in a very non-invasive manner. Given that children today are so concerned about privacy and they always accuse their parents of not giving them enough, this may be a very good method to stay in touch with your children at all times, without making them feel uncomfortable.

Furthermore, children can also use their phone in order to tell their parents how they feel about certain things or even inform their parents on serious things. Moreover, Weisskirch also talks about how frequent these phone calls should be among parents and children and on the importance of the cell phones when it comes to concepts such as family dynamics and even self-esteem. Given that children are so much attracted to these kinds of things, this should be regarded as such a great opportunity for parents to try and connect more with their children, by using their cell phones. Although until now cell phones were not thought as being a great thing for children to have, it seems that the world is trying to adapt its need to whatever there is and if that is what it takes for a parent to get closer to their children, than they should give it a try.
