The terrorist attacks in northern Nigeria continued over the weekend as 5 people were killed on Sunday in the north-eastern city of Maiduguri, when a bomb exploded in a bar, four were gunned down on Saturday, and one on Sunday.
The military commander of the region, Gen. Jack Nwaogbo, blamed the killings on the Islamist group Boko Haram (whose name translates “Western education is a sin”), who militates for an Islamic state in the Muslim north of Nigeria, the most populous country of Africa.
Boko Haram has also been accused of the bombing of a bar last Sunday, a terrorist action that left 25 people dead.

The attack on Sunday was carried out in a bar where soldiers and police officers usually gather. The report of Nwaogbo says that military vans have been seen at the spot carrying their dead.
The death toll varied from 8 to 12, depending on who’s reporting, but there are indications that the four people killed on Saturday night were shot at home, by people who knew where they were living.
The Boko Haram’s trademarks are the use of gunmen on motorcycles, and targeting public places where alcoholic beverages are served, given that Boko Haram wants the enforcement of the Islamic sharia law, which forbids alcohol.
Nigerian government suppressed an uprising of Boko Haram two years ago, and killed its leader, at the time in the custody of the federal government.
