Rangers have grabbed by far their biggest win of the season when the West leaders humiliated Minnesota 20-6 last night at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington where the hosts scored their first nine points in a row, three in each of the first three terms.
On the other side, Twins, who haven’t gone too badly this season, conceded a huge loss, their 55th of the term. Hamilton doubled to left as Andrus brought the first lead for Texas in the first inning. Young then doubled the lead with a 385 footer, being followed by the same Hamilton who made it three in the same term.
The second term borught three more points for Texas, starting with Schavez who scored his first point also thanks to a throwing error committed by fielder Young. Hamilton then doubled to right, allowing Kinsler make it 5-0, while Hamilton had the last word of the round after Young singled to right. Finally, the early session ended with Kinsler’s 400 footer and Davis and Napoli’s precious points.
Twins’ first reply came in the fourth term when Cuddye grounded into double play, whillowing Casilla to cut the big deficit to eight points. But Rangers broke back immediately through Young and Cruz who scored the first two points of yet another nine-point midway run. The hosts scored five points only in the fourth inning, while the fifth one saw them score two doubles.
First Cruz and Napoli made it 16-1 from Chavez’s singling to right, and then Moreland and Chavez made it 18-1, following Andrus’s double to center. Minnesota answered with a second meaningless point in the seventh term when an error from baseman cost the Rangers almost nothing. They answered back with a couple of more points scored by Andrus and Quintanilla.
Finally, the last sequences saw Minnesota consoling themselves with a late four-point rally spread on the eighth and ninth rounds. Kubel homered a 449 long footer, being followed by Cuddyer who scored the fourth point, while Plouffe doubled to left for Valencia’s fifth one. The last word belonged to Repko who closed out the game with a sixth consolation point.
Said Holland: “The main thing is just throwing strikes and keeping momentum on our side. I wouldn’t say it was easy at all. They were swinging the bats and putting balls in play. Our defense did a good job behind me. And I can’t say enough about our offense.”

Phillies have lost yesterday’s meeting with Padres at the death as the visitors managed to overcome a minimal deficit set in the first inning to power through to a three-point consistent lead in the next one. Utley brought the first lead for Philadelphia after Victorino doubled to right, but San Diego broke back immediately through Guzman who evened the situation in the second round, following Johnson’s doubling to center. The same term brought the away side three more points through Johnson, Denorfia and Bartlett who made it 4-1 after Headley doubled to center.
The third inning went scoreless for both sides, while the fourth one saw the same Padres extend the early rally to five points. Ludwick sacrificed to center as the same Denorfia made it 5-1. Phillies first and one replies came in the fourth and sixth term. First, Ibanez cut the deficit to three points, and then Brown made it 3-5,, following Ruiz’s singling to center. Finally, Victorino tried to resuscitate his side in the sixth but he could only score the last consolation point for the home side.
Despite the win, San Diego lie foot of the table in the West with a .437 record featuring 45 wins and 58 losses, the victory over the East leaders being their fifth in the past ten games and 28th on the road. St. Louis Cardinals 10 – 5 Houston Astros
Cardinals have picked a comprehensive win last night at the Busch stadium where the hosts crashed Astros thanks to a midway rally which saw the favorites score five points in a row. Despite a poor start, which highlighted Altuve bringing the first lead for Atlanta, Cardinals managed to provide an eight-point run spread on four innings.
Rasmus grounded out to second in the second term as Freese evened the score with Molina getting to third. Punto then tripled to right, allowing Molina to bring the first advantage for the home side. Mets have improved their season record to .500 when they beat Reds at the Great American Ball Park on Monday. The visitors scored all their points in the seventh term. Pittsburgh manage to keep the leading position in the Central where they sit just .001 ahead of their main followers Cardinals. The leaders have started to build a small streak when they beat Atlanta at the Turner Field on Monday night. The first term went dry for both teams as Pirates first took the lead in the second term when Cedeno grounded to third for McCuthen’s first point of the clash.
McKenry then singled to left, allowing Alvarez to double the lead. McKenry also got to second after advancing on throw. The next three innings also went scoreless, while the sixth one brought Pirates a third point through Jones who extended the lead after McCutchen singled to center, but also thanks to an error committed by fielder McLouth.
Braves scored their consolation in the eighth inning through Jones who fired the only homerun of the game.
