Ending the congressional election within the South Bay area, Democrat Janice Hahn was victorious over Republican Craig Huey yesterday. The votes were pretty close. After the count was made, it shown 54.6% for Hahn compared to 45.4% for Huey.
Hahn takes the place of former Republican Jane Harman, who resigned the Congressional District in order to head to Washington and head a “think tank”.
Although Hahn was already considered the favorite amongst the populace according to the Democrats 18 point lead in the coastal area, the race was getting tighter and tighter since Huey decided to fight back and invested an estimate of $800.000 of his personal funds into the campaign in an attempt to rally members of “tea party” and other supporters that aren’t satisfied with the current Washington situation.
Hahn’s victory is expected to launch another election in order to find her a successor to fill in her city council seat. The successor will “watch over” the area from Watts to San Pedro. One candidate for the city council seat made his candidacy official Tuesday night. Firefighter Pat McOsker is officially one of the would be successors.
