After choosing Prithviraj Chavan as the next head for the state of Maharashtra, the Congress Party now has chosen Ajit Pawar as the new Deputy Chief Minister for the state. Chavan replaced former CM, Ashok Chavan whereas; Pawar replaced Chhagan Bhujbal to occupy the position.
Ajit Pawar is National Congress Party (NCP) Chief, Sharad Pawar’s nephew.
According to the sources, Ajit Pawar would be responsible for ‘Energy’ and ‘Home’ portfolios.The latter is currently looked after by RR Patil, one of the senior members of the NCP.
Other NCP leader, Praful Patel clarified the fact that Bhujbal has not been dethrone from the position. He said, “Bhujbal has been serving the party for long. He is not a junior member. He himself proposed Pawar’s name.”
The new Chief Minister will take the office tomorrow that is Thursday, November 11, 2010. The new appointments have been made as a result of Ashok Chavan’s resignation from the post of Maharashtra CM.
