Barbora Zahlavova Strycova ousted Swedish wildcard Hilda Melander 6-2, 6-3 at the $220,000 Swedish Open to meet Anastasiya Yakimova in the second term.
The 25-year-old Czech, who has started the Open as a seventh favorite, beat the unseeded in nearly one hour and will meet the world number 93 Yakimova for the second time. As for the Czech, she last upset the world number 62 at the 2002 Orbetello event, Tuesday’s game being also their third clash on a clay court.
