Unstoppable Texas have extended their impressive run to 12 victories when the West leaders beat Angels 7-0 last night at the Angel Stadium of Anaheim where the visitors have set their biggest streak of the season.
Rangers kept the sheet clean throughout the entire meeting as Angels could only witness their own ruining. Hamilton brought the first lead in the first term after Beltre doubled to left, while Napoli doubled the advantage in the fourth term following Kinsler’s single to right. The next inning saw Andrus extend the lead to three points as Rangers were drawing the clear win. The next two terms went scoreless for both sides, while the eighth one brought the first homer of the night, hit by Chavez.
Napoli followed him with a fifth point as things looked clear as possible. As Angels were struggling for a consolation, Texas were preparing for a tremendous 12-win run. Finally, Hamilton and Beltre ended the game with two homeruns, one apiece, as the leaders have gone 5 gamesback ahead of their main followers, the same Los Angeles.
Rangers have cemented their top spot with a 56th season win, having gone .577 this season, including at the same time 41 defeats. As for Angels, they are second with a .526 still positive percentage which features 51 victories and 46 losses, the defeat to Texas being their third in a row, 27th at home and fifth in the past ten games.

Brewers grabbed a solid revenge over Arizona last night at the Chase Field where they crashed the hosts by eight points thanks to an early rally. Brewers scored the first five points in a row, while Arizona could only go three points adrift in the fifth inning. Hart and Braun opened the early session with two homers, while Morgan followed them with a third point.
Betancourt then fired a 370 foot homer by himself, while McGehee put his side five games ahead of the sleeping Arizona whose first reply came in the same first round through Roberts who cut the deficit to four points following Upton’s singling to center. Montero then hit a sacrifice to center, allowing Upton to score the second point for the former leaders.
The second round went dry for both teams, while the third one found Weeks breaking with a 451-foot homer. Arizona broke back in the fifth also with a 457-foot homer. Unfortunately for the hosts, from then on things could only get worse and worse. The sixth inning brought Brewers three more points through Betancourt, Lucroy and Gallardo who made it 9-3.
Finally the same Betancourt fired a 385-foot homerun, being follows by McGehee who closed out the comprehensive win in high style. Milwaukee remain second though in the Central table with a .531 record which features 52 wins and 46 losses, the victory over D-backs being their sixth in the past ten games. As for Arizona, they also sit second in the West with a .536 percentage, including 52 wins and 45 defeats, the loss to Brewers being their fifth in the past ten games and 21st at home.
San Francisco Giants 5 – 3 Los Angeles Dodgers
Giants grabbed a hard fought win last night at the AT&T Park after being led 2-3 at one point in the third term by the bottom Dodgers who eventually lost the game due to a poor finish. Belt gave Giants the first lead in the second inning after hitting a 350-foot homerun. He was followed by Crawford who doubled the advantage from Bumgarner’s grounding to shortstop.
The third round saw Dodgers take the minimal lead thanks to a three-point trot. First, Loney cut the deficit to one point after Gwynn doubled to right, and then Barajas and the same Gwynn converted Furcal’s single into a 3-2 advantage. The fourth round went scoreless for both sides as the game seemed to become a tight one.
But the fifth term highlighted Torres evening the situation as Giants were preparing for a late comeback. The sixth inning also went scoreless, while the seventh one brought two precious points for the same San Francisco who grabbed the victory through Torres and Burriss who saved the hosts from disaster.
Giants remain top in the West with a .582 record which features 57 wins and 41 defeats, the win over Dodgers being their third in a row and eighth in the past ten games. On the other side, Los Angeles are second from the bottom with a .433 percentage, including 42 wins and 55 defeats. The loss to San Francisco was their fourth in a row, 28th on the road and fifth in the past ten games.
Houston Astros 7 – 6 Washington Nationals
Astros edged Nationals last night at the Minute Maid Park where the hosts beat Washington at the death as the visitors could only hold them at two. Houston opened the score in the second term through Barmes, who fired a 361-foot homerun, and Lee who doubled the lead immediately. Nationals’ first reply came in the third round through Morse who fired a 340-foot homerun and Zimmerman who threatened with a comeback.
Unfortunately, the Nationals were unable to take any lead as they allowed Astros to go four points ahead in the fourth term. Barmes singled to center and Lee brought back the minimal advantage. Quintero then reached on bunt single to first as John made it 4-2 with Barmes getting to second. Finally, the midway rally ended with Barmes and Quintero’s points and thus a 6-2 lead for the hosts.
Washington managed to cut the deficit to one point in the sixth inning thanks to a three-point run, but never take back the lead. Quintero broke back in the same term after Bourn singled to left as things seemed to be pretty clear. Morse made it 6-7 in the seventh round, but it was too late as Houston celebrated their 16th win at home.
Despite the win, Astros lie foot of the table in the Central with a .330 record, by far the worst in the league, including 32 wins and 65 defeats, the victory over Washington being just their third in the apst ten games. As for Nationals, they remains second from the bottom with a .495 percentage which features 49 wins and 49 losses, the loss to Houston being their sixth in the past ten games.
Kansas City Royals 4 – 2 Chicago White Sox
Kansas defeated Sox last night at the Kauffman Stadium despite being led 2-0 at one point early in the game. Chicago thus scored the first two points of the game, but never managed to preserve the lead. Pierre brought the first lead early in the first round after Quentin singled to center, while Ramirez doubled the advantage right afterwards.
Royals broke back in the second inning through Hosmer who cut the deficit to one points from Escobar’s grounding. However it took the Royals four innings to even the situation and take the first lead of the match. Treanor singled to center, allowing Butler and Francoeur to make it 3-2. Cabrera gave his side the win in the seventh round after hitting a 430-foot homerun.
Royals sit bottom in the Central with a .402 percentage which incorporates 39 wins and 58 defeats, the win over Chicago being their third one in the past ten games and 25th at home. As for the Sox, they are third in the same Conference with a .485 record, including 47 wins and 50 defeats, the loss to Royals being their sixth in the past ten games and 25th on the road.
Chicago Cubs 2 – 4 Philadelphia Phillies
Philadelphia got the revenge over Cubs beating them by two points last night at the Wrigley Field where the leaders have grabbed their 60th win of the season. Chicago were the first to take the lead pretty early through Castro who hit a 377-foot homerun in the first inning and Johnson who made it 2-0 right afterwards.
It took the Phillies seven innings to break through as Rollins and Martinez leveled the score after Utley doubled to center in the eighth. Finally, two late precious points scored by Francisco and Rollins gave the visitors a hard fought win, their 26th on the road.
Philadelphia stay top in the East with a .625 record which features 60 wins and 36 losses, the victory over Cubs being their sixth in the past ten games. Chicago, by contrast, are second from the bottom in the Central with a .398 record which includes 39 victories and 59 defeats, the loss to the leaders being their sixth in the past ten games.
Minnesota Twins 2 – 1 Cleveland Indians
Minnesota captured a late at-the-death win over the leaders Indians last night at the Target Field after being led 0-1 until the last inning. Cleveland was given the first lead by Marson who seemed to have scored the winner at one point. Unfortunately, a late turnover saw Minnesota score a couple of more points, exactly as many points as needed to clinch a struggling victory.
Valencia singled to left in the ninth term, allowing Mauer and Cuddyer to give their side the big win in front of a 38,000 warmly crowd. Twins remain though second from the bottom in the Central Conference with a .469 record which includes 45 wins and 51 losses, the victory over Cleveland being their sixth in the past ten games. On the other side, Indians remain top spot despite the loss, having gone .531 so far this season, the same as Detroit who are eyeing the leading position again. The defeat to Twins was their 27th on the road where they remain negative (24-27), but also their sixth in the past ten games.
