One of the real book bombs being disarmed

Four young women in the town of Bima have been arrested by the Bima Police for pretending to be terrorists. These young girls have put a book in front of a police officer house Brigadier Mulyadin, in Melayu Village, Asakota District, City of Bima, on Saturday afternoon.

The book package that might seem trivial to other people has recently gained notoriety as many places in Indonesia especially Jakarta was bombarded with bomb packages disguised as a book.

The women who were only given their initial by the Police were J (16 years old), I (15 years old), F (15 years old), and E (20 years old) are now threatened with serious criminal charges related to terrorism.

One of the girls E said that the idea was spontaneous and was meant to be joking. “We were just having fun as we didn’t have anything to do at that time” she said. The book was placed at around 3:30 pm and was spotted by the wife of the Police officer who immediately reported it to Bima Police.

The book prank has caused dozens of police to isolate the street in front of Mulyadin house. The Police bomb disposal team also brings with complete equipment and scrutinized the package for 2.5 hours before finally decided that there was no bomb in the book. Although there was no bomb discovered, the commotion has disturbed residents who witnessed the process of the bomb disarmament outside the police line.

The four girls are currently being detained by the Police for questioning.

“They said they’re doing it for fun and there is no other purpose. What sanctions will be given to them are still waiting for the examination to be completed” said Chief of Police City of Bima, Kumbul KS, Sunday (07/17/2011) afternoon.
