Gen. M. Mullen Meeting Xi Jinping

China and the United Stated of America should close their ties at a military level, Vice President of China Xi Jinping urged both China and the United States on Monday.
The vice president said that the first two economies in the world should intensify their contacts, expand common ground and deepen mutual trust so that the military cooperation be fostered.
Xi Jingping met on Monday with the chief of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff that the military departments and the armed forces should remove obstacles and promote ties based on mutual respect and beneficial cooperation.
Xi praised the relations between the United States and China, saying they are the most important bilateral relations in the political landscape, and that their importance has exceeded the local importance, and became global.

U.S.-China Relations

He remembered the visit of the president Hu Jintao to Washington earlier this year, and praised the fact that during that visit the two sides learnt how to cooperate, and how to accept and to deal with differences.
Military relations are in the line with the consensus the two presidents reached while meeting in Washington, the vice president said.
Mullen replied that the U.S. will boost the military relations with China based on respect and trust.
He pledged to facilitate future military dialogues and exchanges between the U.S. and China.
Later in the day the vice chairman of the Chinese Military Commission praised the level of military cooperation with the U.S. but urged his guest to stop selling weapons to Taiwan.
Tension accumulated between China and the U.S. especially over the implication of the American carriers in the Pacific in the joint military operations in South Korea.
As it emerged as the second-largest economy in the world China developed military ambitions, some considering it wanted a major role in the region, others thought it wanted to become a major world player.
Recently, it made plans to acquire stealth technology, to build a carrier and to develop a rocket capable of penetrating U.S. carriers’ shields.
