According to the World Health Organization, the most dangerous killers in the world are heart diseases, cancer and diabetes.
From the researchers of the study said, it seems that chronic illnesses have grown significantly in the past couple of years and smoking and drinking are the main causes. These noncommunicable diseases present more threat than sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV, malaria and tuberculosis. Furthermore, it seems that the low and middle income countries see most of the cases of these noncommunicable diseases and that is because people do not have the possibility of buying good quality food or to treat themselves with the latest treatments. Moreover, these diseases also lead to a blow to the development of these countries. Dr Margaret Chan, WHO Director General, said that these things “cause billions of dollars in losses of national income, and they push millions of people below the poverty line, each and every year.”
According to WHO, all the spread of these chronic illnesses could be prevented by introducing policies regarding a better, healthier diet and stronger smoking legislation. Given that smoking is the most important factor when it comes to the development of these diseases, people should be more aware of the things smoking does to their health. Obesity and alcohol are also leading factors and there are more than 3 million people who die each year because they do not exercise, 2.8 millions die of obesity, while 2.5 millions die from alcohol. Figures also show that by 2020, 10 percent of all global death, meaning 7.5 million people, will die because of smoking. Nowadays, there are 6 million people who die every year because of diseases developed after heavy smoking.
Of course, smoking combined with other external factors, such as a poor diet or heavy drinking or even stress can cause even more damage to the human body. Stress is also one of the major factors that affect people all around the world and it can lead to serious problems linked to physical health. If you want to live longer, bad habits such as smoking, drinking and eating stuff which are bad for you should be replaced with a lot of physical exercise and a healthier diet.
