Protests in Homs
Homs has been an important point of the uprising in Syria against corruption and the regime of president Bashir al Assad a few months ago.
Syrian human rights activists reported that thirteen people were killed yesterday and today in parts of Homs as the military opened fire in this city.
The fighting in Homs began as three supporters of the regime were kidnapped and killed, and their dismembered bodies were returned to the relatives.
Protests in Homs
According to international news agencies, there are troops and armored vehicles in every neighborhood of the city of Homs, and besides them the death squads.
Regular troops and death squads were reported to shoot at random since dawn with rifles and machine guns.
30 people were killed over the weekend by the factional fighting, and bodies of the Alawite sect members were found mutilated.
1,400 people were killed since the beginning of the Syrian revolution, and thousands other people were wounded as the government crack down on demonstrations.
As the regime in Damascus continues to kill its citizens, even former supporters like Qatar had to close their embassies and announced they did not want to take part in what was going on there.
European Union is making ready to apply new sanctions on the regime after the travel bans and fund freezes already imposed on the regime.
Syrian regime expressed recently its outrage at the visit of the United States ambassador to the city of Hama, where the revolution started.
The ambassador declared upon his return that he has seen no potential threat and no bandits in the city that would require the massive presence of the military.
Syria argued that the deployment of troops was to make sure that the subversive elements, stirred by the Western and Israeli forces, do not jeopardize the lives of civilians.
