Search engine giant Google has paid tribute to George Mendel on his 189th birthday. A new doodle has been displayed on the home page of the search engine.
A few peas have been strategically arranged on the home page as the doodle, which shows a shape of Google. In the year, 1822 Heinzendorf, was born on 20th July 1822 in Austria.
He was born as Johann Mendel and was given the name as Gregor after he had joined the novitiate of the Augustinian order. Mendel had studied physics and mathematics and had also studies the physiology and anatomy of plants under the guidance of the botanist Franz Unger.
Gregor used to experiment with plant hybridization at the monastery in Brunn. He was always known for his experiment with peas. This is the reason the doodle has been designed with peas. The experiments of Gregor had led him to the Law of Segregation and the Law of Independent Assortment.
