Hannover oust foremr champions Sevilla to reach EL groups

The 2006 and 2007 UEFA Cup champions FC Sevilla were ousted from the Europa League play-offs by Hannover who pass the Spaniards thanks to a 1-1 second leg draw at the Ramon Sanchez stadium. The Germans have made the progress through the EL group stage thanks to a 3-2 aggregate.
The two sides conceded 11 yellow cards and a red one together as Abdellaoue’s first half goal proved to be crucial for his side’s progress. The same night AS Roma were eliminated from the competition despite drawing Bratislava at the Olimpico. Perrotta opened the score for the hosts early in the meeting, but the Slovaks leveled the result late in the 83^rd minute, Stepanovsky’s goal being sufficient for their progress through. Slovan beat Roma 1-0 in the first leg, to make Luis Enrique start the new season poorly.
