The Woman Who Accused DSK In the U.S. Could Accuse Him In France

Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s problems are far from being over, even though the case against him is ready to be dismissed even before it had a chance to go to court, and the accusations in France, made by Tristane Banon, writer and journalist, will take some time until they go to court.
Lawyers of the 32-year-old woman who accused DSK of having sequestered her and attempted to have sex with her in the Sofitel hotel in New York City announced they were considering now the opportunity to file the same complaint against him in a court in France.
According to French law, crimes committed by French nationals can be prosecuted in France if they are punishable in the countries where they had been committed.
The lawyers said that they can launch their action in the French court at any time, and that it is not necessary for them to wait until the American justice decides in the case.
If they make good on this threat and go to a French court with their case, a judge would have three months at their disposal to determine whether the case is worth investigating.
However, if the trial in the U.S. goes on, the accusation in France must be altered a little, otherwise the lawyers could file a civil case.
This new development comes after Banon decided to join forces with the chambermaid in New York in an attempt to merge their cases in hope that they would succeed together. Their lawyers have already met to discuss details.
Tristane Banon accuses him of having asked her to come to his office in the building of the National Assembly, where DSK was a representative, and that when she arrived he attempted to rape her. This events allegedly happened in 2002.
Her mother, a prominent member of the Socialist Party in France, said she knew about the attempt of rape but kept silent.
When asked about these allegations, Francois Hollande, presidential contender of the Socialists, said his comrade had been subjected to a lot of pressure since April, and that he was victim to a smear campaign.
Dominique Strauss-Kahn was the head of the International Monetary Fund, until he was accused of attempted rape by the young woman who was working at the Sofitel hotel in NYC.

DSK lost his job at the IMF and the nomination of the Socialists to fight for presidency in the next elections. He was arrested and then released on bail for a large amount.
As the American investigators attempted to make a case out of the allegations made by the young chambermaid, they discovered that she was working as a prostitute, and had lied about her identity when she came from Africa to the U.S. seven years ago, and then continued to lie to authorities in order to get a house.
Investigators found out that the woman was receiving money from men that were not related to her.
Under these circumstances, the investigators decided that the case had no chance in court, which is showed also by the fact that DSK was released from house arrest in June.
As soon as DSK was arrested many conspiracy theories were launched most of all converging on the conviction that by this smear campaign he was prevented from running for president of France.
Russian intelligence presented an interesting report according to which DSK was removed from station because he had discovered that the American gold treasure at Fort Knox was gone.
