Seattle have continued their freefall when Toronto beat them 11-6 last night at the Rogers Centre where the visitors conceded their 11th straight defeat.
Blue Jays scored their first five points in a row early in the meeting as Mariners could only cut deficits and witness their own ruining. Snider sacrificed to center in the second term as Lind put Toronto into an early lead. Escobar then walked as Encarnacion doubled the advantage in the same term with Hill getting to third and Molina to second. Moreover, Jays opened the gap to four points through Hill and Molina who scored the last two points of the second round.
The third inning saw the same home side score a fifth one through Encarnacion, while Mariners’ first reply came in the fourth term. Bard doubled to right as Kennedy and Seagger cut the deficit to three points. But Jays broke back immediately through Snider who fired a 396-foot homerun, while Bautista and the same Encarnacion followed him as just. The fifth inning went scoreless for both sides, while the sixth one saw Encarnacion fire a 445-foot homerun for a 9-2 advantage.
Davis put the Jays into a eight point lead after McDonald singled to left in the same term. Meanwhile, Seattle were struggling for a late comeback but the best things they could do was to go seven points adrift and get used with the loss. Ackley doubled to center as Ryan made it 3-10. Lind replied with a 443-foot homer. The last three points belonged to the Mariners who managed not to concede a too shameful loss.
Said a disappointed Josh Bard: “Somebody’s got to step up and do something about it because I know we’re not satisfied with this, I know Eric’s not satisfied with this, the staff, GM Jack Zduriencik, everybody. This is not OK, and nobody thinks that. When it’s not OK, you’ve got to do something different.”
Toronto are second from the bottom in the East with a .500 record which features 49 wins and 49 defeats, the victory over Seattle being their second in a row and seventh in the past ten games. As for Mariners, they remain third in the West with a .443 negative record, including 43 wins and 54 defeats, going just .5 ahead of bottom Oakland.
Detroit Tigers 5 – 7 Oakland Athletics
Oakland are one win from exiting the bottom position as they stunned Detroit last night at the Comerica Park to go .5 adrift of freefalling Seattle in the West. Athletic managed to pick a big win yesterday after managing to overcome a 3-5 deficit set by the Tigers in the sixth inning, to power through to a four-point late rally which brought them the 17th win on the road.
The first two innings went scoreless, while the third one saw Oakland take a two-point lead through De Jesus and Powell, only to be evened minutes later. Santaigo grounded out to second, allowing Kelly to cut the deficit to one point, while Ordonez singled to center for Jackson’s leveler.
The enxt two terms also went dry for the two teams as no side looked as favorite. Oakland took back a minimal lead in the sixth inning through Matsui who fired a 354 footer, but Detroit answered with a three-point trot which brought them a two-point lead right afterwards. Martinez doubled to center permitting Odronez and Cabrera to put their side one point ahead. Kelly then sacrificed to center as Martinez suggested a turnover for the Tigers.
Unfortunately, their joy wouldn’t last too long as Oakland prepared for a late comeback which was developed within the seventh term. Pennington singled to shallow right as Powell managed to cut the deficit to one point, with Sogard getting to third and Crisp to second. Furthermore, Willingham sacrificed to right as Sogard evened back the situation and put the opponents into big difficulty.
Oakland scored a couple of more points while keeping the sheet clean, through Crisp and Pennington who scored the last two points of the game two innings before the end. Despite the win, Athletics remain bottom in the West with a .439 record which features 43 wins and 55 losses, the victory over Detroit being their fourth in the past ten games. Tigers, by contrast, remain second in the Central with a similar percentage as Cleveland, .526, including 51 victories and 46 defeats, the loss to Oakland being their fourth in the past ten games.
Minnesota Twins 7 – 5 Cleveland Indians
Indians were stopped from cementing their leading position in the Central by Twins who beat Cleveland after overcoming a 2-3 deficit set in the fourth term by the visitors. Revere brought the first lead for Minnesota in the first term after Casilla grounded to right. The same Casilla then doubled the lead after Mauer singled to right as Twins were looking pretty good.
The next two innings went scoreless for both teams, while the fourth one saw Indains take a minimal lead. LaPorta sacrificed to center as Carrera and Cabrera evened the situation, also thanks to an error committed by fielder Revere. Cabrera then grounded to second, allowing Hafner who make it 3-2. Unfortunately, that was the best the away side could in Minneapolis as Minnesota would provide a pretty consistent play in the last terms.
Cuddyer leveled back in the same fourth round, while Thome brought back the lead for the Twins after Young singled to center. Cleveland could only even the situation from then on. Hafner made it 4-4, but that could only trigger Twins’ late comeback. Minnesota went three points ahead in the eighth inning thanks to Casilla, Mauer and Hughes who made it 7-4 just before the end. Indians could only score a last consolation point in the ninth term through Chisenhall who fired a 413 foot homerun, the only one of the game.

The next three terms went scoreless for both sides, while the sixth one saw Nationals even the situation through Werth, who fired a 392-foot homerun, and Morse who pushed the game into overtime. The next five rounds also went dry for the two teams as neither of them were able to score at least one point until the 11th inning.
Finally, Michael singled to center, allowing Quintero to give his side a hard fought victory, Houston’s 17th on the road. Despite the win, Houston are foot of the table in the Central with a .337 percentage which includes 33 wins and 65 defeats, the victory over Washington being their second in a row and third in the past ten games. Nationals are second from the bottom in the East with a .490 record, including 48 wins and 50 losses, the defeat to Houston being their second in a row and seventh in the past ten games.

Ellsbury opened the game with a 401-foot homerun hit in the third inning. Reddick made it 2-0 in the fourth round after Varitek grounded to second.
The next two innings went scoreless for both sides, while the seventh one saw Ellsbury hit another homerun for a 3-0 lead. Finally, Crawford walked as Gonzalez gave his side a comprehensive clean victory in front of a 35,000 crowd.
