Thousands of people have been crossing into Turkey since the unrest began three months ago, the most serious challenge to the regime in Syria, whom the authorities blame on international conspiracy and thugs.
Local Coordinating Committees which track the protest movement in Syria confirmed that tanks and snipers were present in Khirbet al-Jouz.
However, the information is difficult to confirm given that the regime in Damascus has forbidden the access of foreign journalists in the country, and the local media was also restricted.
A Turkish television showed images taken from the Turkish side, in which armed men appear in the Syrian village.
Almost 100 people crossed the border into Turkey as the village was surrounded by the Syrian forces.
About 1,400 people were killed and 10,000 detained since the unrest started, estimates of the Syrian opposition ascertain.
On Wednesday, the regime slammed the European decision to impose more sanctions on Damascus, claiming that Europeans, too, were part in the conspiracy intended to bring the Syrian leadership down.
European authorities said they were thinking about imposing some restrictions on Syrian companies operating in Europe, in an attempt to convince the regime to stop its aggressive measures directed against the citizens of the country.
