This woman sounds like a candidate for the I Shouldn’t Be Alive television show:
A woman miraculously survived a multiple stabbing attack and fall from a 100 m cliff and lived to tell police that the assailant was her husband.
The woman, who works in Suwon and was identified only by her surname Goh (44), and her husband, identified as Choi (56), were vacationing in Gangwon Province and got into an argument on July 19. According to police, Choi suspected that his wife was seeing another man. Her took her to an empty lot and began to drink as he interrogated her. At some point he flew into a rage and grabbed a fishing knife from his car and stabbed her four times, piercing her chest and abdomen. The knife just missed her heart, doctors at Samsung Hospital in Sokcho said. “Just 1 cm deeper and she would have died instantly,” they added.
Her abdominal wound damaged a major vein in her lower body. But the knife did not scathe the main artery, which would have been fatal.Choi then pushed Goh into his truck and headed to the nearest hospital. But when he saw that she was motionless, he drove to Misiryeong pass instead, according to police. When they reached the top of the pass, she regained consciousness and asked her husband to stop the car, saying she felt sick. Police said Choi then pushed her off the 100 m cliff. She grabbed his arm and begged him not to kill her, but he pushed her off. Because of the late hour there were no other cars.
Goh tumbled down the cliff and is believed to have landed on a boulder 20 m below, which broke her fall. “When I woke up, it was dawn. All I remember is climbing up along the grass, avoiding the slippery rocks,” police quoted her as saying. She was found covered in bruises after falling several times as she attempted to scale the cliff.
Goh was discovered by a passing driver in the early morning of July 20, 19 hours after she had been pushed off the cliff. The driver found her lying in a fetal position on the side of the mountain pass. It remains unclear exactly when and how she managed to reach on the road, but police believe the fetal position helped stem blood loss and saved her life. [Chosun Ilbo]
