Google and the way in which it physically affects our mind. There were made lots of studies on this idea and this was actually recognized as a fact.
Well, it is true that using the search engine Google and all of the search engines in fact, we have to retain day by day less and less things, but I bet nobody actually thought that such a thing would practically damage the capacity of retaining things and the way in which the brain functions.
As this study showed, people are avoiding learning things, willingly or not, because the next thought is that “well, if I do not know, I’ll search it on Google”. And they don’t know how bad it is and how much they are practically training unconsciously their minds to give up on retaining the things in their lives.
So, another fact that the study revealed is the finite nature of the capacity of the human brain. If until now we have thought that we can learn infinite things, now this has shown that we practically search every occasion to not retain them. Therefore, since the searching engines have appeared, we do not bother to keep inside our brains the whole information, but we just retain the fact and that’s all. Why? Because we know that if we want to find out something, there are going to be at a click away.
This may seem as a help at the first sight, but it is extremely wrong, because it makes our brain lazier, day by day. If we consider that almost daily there is more and more information on the internet, then we should realize that one day, we will not use our brain almost for nothing, because it will be founded on no matter which site.
And another thing that we do not take into consideration is the fact that we are becoming one whole with our computers, which makes us addicted to them. So, if one day everything related to the tech part will die, we will cease to be able to socially exist because of our lacunas.
So, what are we doing with the natural way of living? Are we throwing it away because of the technology? I hope that the movie called Idiocracy, that was expressing exactly how the world will become in 100 years from now on because of the misunderstood technology, will not prove to be a prediction of the future reality.
