Both English champions Manchester United and Chelsea will start he new term away from home. The Red Devils have been set to meet West Bromwich Albion on the first day, while the Blues start the new season away in Stoke, both matches being scheduled to take place on August 13.
United were drawn by West Bromwich last year on Old Trafford in a 2-2 draw, but managed to get the three points after edging them 2-1 away. The same thing happened to Chelsea who grabbed just four points in two meetings with Stoke whom they beat 2-0 in the first leg and drew 1-1 away in the second one. Manchester City, who finished the season with the same number of points as the Stamford Bridge side, 71, will start the new term with a rare clash against newly-promoted Swansea.
Tottenham Hotspur, who reached the UEFA Champions League quarter finals this year, but have grabbed just the fifth place this season, will make her debut against Everton from whom they snatched just one point last term. Everton held the Spurs in a 1-1 draw on White Hart Lane and won the second leg 2-1. Arsenal meet Newcastle United in the first day away from home. The Gunners met the Magpies three times last year. First they thwarted them 4-0 in the fourth round of the Curling Cup, but were beaten 1-0 on the Emirates in the first leg. As for the second one, it saw the same Newcastle come from four goals behind and level the score in an eight-goal show.
Finally, Liverpool, who missed the chance to make the next term’s Europa League groups, will start the new season on Anfield against Sunderland whom the Reds drew 2-2 in the first leg last season and beat 2-0 away. The newly-promoted Rangers will play Bolton Wanderers in the first day of the new season, while Norwich travel to Wigan Athletic the same day.
Among the early derbies, Manchester United face Chelsea on September 17, while Liverpool host the Devils on October 15. The local clash between United and City will take place on October 22, while the Londoner derby between Chelsea and Arsenal is scheduled to take place on October 29 on Stamford Bridge.
