Tampa Bay managed to keep their sheet clean throughout the entire meeting as Rays stunned the leaders 4-0 last night at the Tropicana Field where they dispelled Boston’s nine-win streak.
After four scoreless innings, Ruggiano brought the first lead for the hosts with a 335-foot homerun. Longoria then doubled the lead in the sixth with Upton getting to second on [ass by Saltalamacchia. Red Sox, who were following a very remarkable performance, were unable to score at least one point in Florida. But on the contrary, they allowed the Rays to extend their lead as the game progressed. Thus, Joyce made it even 3-0 in the eighth, after Kotchman singled to shallow left and Longoria got to third. Finally, Longoria closed out the game after scoring the fourth point within the same term.

Cubs edged the Brewers last night at the Wrigley Field to start building streak. Although they had a very bad start, the hosts managed to come from behind and cut a three-point deficit and stun Milwaukee with a late rally. The first two innings went dry for both sides, while he third one showed the Brewers scoring a couple of points through Weeks and Morgan.

The fifth and sixth innings also went scoreless, while Cubs first cut the deficit in the seventh through Soto who fired a 370-foot homerun. Fukudome then cut the deficit to a couple of points, while Ramirez and Castro leveled the score in the last but one term.
So, the game was pushed into a tenth round which brought the Cubs a hard-fought victory thanks to Campana who gave his side the big victory after Castro singled to center. Cubs remain second from the bottom in the Central Conference with 27 wins and 39 defeats, the win over Milwaukee being their fourth in the past ten games. As for the Brewers, they remain top with the same winning percentage as St. Louis Cardinals of .559, which includes 38 victories and 30 losses.
Oakland Athletics 4 – 7 Kansas City Royals
Royals have grabbed their second straight win after overcoming Athletics last night at the Coliseum. Kansas dominated the game from the very beginning as Francoeur scored the first point in the second term. Treanor grounded out to shortstop, while Francoeur brought the first lead for the visitors. The third term went scoreless, while the fourth one saw Moustakas double the lead after Escobar grounded out to third.
Oakland scored their first point through Matsui who homered a 364 footer right afterwards. Kansas broke back through Hosmer and the same Francoeur who made it 4-1 in the fifth. Athletics replied with another one in the same inning, but they were far from staying in touch with the Royals’ outburst. The next two terms went dry and the eighth found the away side scoring three points in a row and drawing the clear victory. Hosmer singled to center and Escobar and Cabrera made it 5-2, while the same Cabrera scored the sixth one after Francoeur sacrificed to center.
Matsui cut the deficit to three points after Sizemore reached on infield single, while a throwing error from Escobar allowed Sizemore put his side two points within the leveling. Still, the end belonged to the same Kansas who closed out the game through Moustakas who gave his side the victory after Escobar doubled to right.
Royals lie second from the bottom in the Central Center with 30 wins and 37 losses, while Oakland are foot of the table with 28 wins and 40 defeats, the loss to Kansas being their third in a row, ninth in the past ten games.
Colorado Rockies 6 – 3 San Diego Padres
Rockies overcame Padres last night at the Coors Field to claim their 32nd win of the season. Despite a pretty slow start, which found the visitors scoring their first two points in the first and fourth terms, Colorado managed to power through to a six-point trot which helped them to leave with a win. Denorfia opened the game with a 422-foot homerun hit in the very first inning, while Maybin doubled the lead after three terms.
The fourth term brought at the same time the precious comeback for the home side who scored three points in a row. First, Helton singled to center, allowing Nelson to cut the deficit to one point. Then, the same Helton leveled the score after Wigginton singled to center. Finally, Tulowitzki brought the first lead for the Rockies after Blackmon singled to center.
The fifth inning went dry for the two sides as Iannetta homered a 379 footer in the sixth to make it 4-2. He was followed by Blackmon and Spilborghs who propelled their team four points ahead of the losing pace San Diego. Headley scored the last point of the meeting after Ludwick singled to center in the ninth. Padres left the Coors Field beaten, but are expected to break through on Wednesday.
Rockies remain third in the West Conference with 32 wins and 25 defeats, the win over Padres being their fifth in the past ten games, while San Diego lie foot of the table with 30 wins and 39 losses, the defeat to Colorado being their sixth in the past ten games, 13th on the road.
