A group of international criminals operated out of Indonesia was busted by the Indonesian Police. The information leading to the arrest was obtained from the Chinese and Taiwanese Police where the victims of the crimes were located.

The group which comprises of 76 Chinese and 101 Taiwanese uses the internet to blackmails their victims in their homeland and operated out of 15 different location in Jakarta spreading across of South Jakarta, Bekasi, Tangerang, West Jakarta, and North Jakarta.

The groups would accuse their victims which comprises of businessman, bankers and even government officials, to have been involved in drugs trafficking and money laundering and demand payment to prevent the stories to get out.

Each group are divided into three functions, first the facilitator which rent the houses, setup the equipment, computers, internet connection etc. The second functions are the operator that made the contact with the victims. The last one is the people that ensure the money from the victims made it to the groups.

From the crime scenes, the police confiscated 121 phones, dozens of portable computers, handy talkie, passports, 24 China and Taiwan identity cards, 28 Bank of China credit cards, cash in U.S. dollars, Rupiah, 5600 Yuan, 5 cameras, and a number of phone records.

“This group rented houses and installing a high speed broadband internet so they can install several internet phones to make calls via the Internet from Indonesia to their many victims in China and Taiwan,” said Inspector General Sutarman

These locations are pretty high tech “Every month, for every house, they pay electricity consumption of up to USD 4,000″ said Sutarman.

The Chinese citizen who comprises of 26 male and 50 females is already deported back to China on Saturday while the Taiwanese of 90 male and 11 female are still being questioned in Jakarta.
