Yahoo! Inc. has announced that their CEO Carol Bartz has been removed by the Board from her role as chief executive officer within Yahoo!. Stepping in to her boots in an interim role is Timothy Morse, and the role has been described as temporary measure until Yahoo find the right person to take on the job full time. So why has Carol Bartz been fired? Well Yahoo is calling it a ’leadership reorganisation’, however in true how-not-to-fire an employee fashion Yahoo! fired her over the telephone, a bold move being the role was so high.
Bartz announced her firing via an email to all staff, which read: “I am very sad to tell you that I’ve just been fired over the phone by Yahoo’s chairman of the board”, and further added ”It has been my pleasure to work with all of you and I wish you only the best going forward.”
Carol’s departure comes after she was appointed CEO in 2009 taking over from Jerry Yang, with the task of moving Yahoo forward in the future.
