One of the most memorable moments of American ‘People’s Choice Award’ took place when Hollywood star Vin Diesel paid an emotional tribute to late Paul Walker. According to foreign media reports, after taking to the stage to collect the ‘Favourite Movie’ award for ‘Furious 7’, Diesel described the film as a ‘labour of love’ and admitted that, ahead of coming on stage, he had struggled to conquer his emotions.
“You know, as I was coming up here, I always do this,” he said. “I say ‘I'm not going to get emotional about, you know, winning these awards’. And I was cool when I was sitting in my seat, and then they handed me two awards. They said to make this short and sweet, so I will try to make this short and sweet. It was a labour of love. My only message to you is you’d be amazed what you can do with love. You'd be amazed at how powerful a force that is.”
“When we didn’t want to come back to filming when the tragedy was too heavy, it was the love of everyone combined that saw us through to the end,” he added.
He also sang the opening lines of Wiz Khalifa’s ‘See You Again’, “it’s been a long day without you my friend and I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again”.
After ‘Furious 7’ was released last year, it became the highest-grossing film in the franchise, and on Wednesday, it picked up People's Choice honours for ‘Favorite Movie’ and ‘Favorite Action Movie’.
