Tampa Bay Rays have picked their second straight win against the East champions New York Yankees whom they defeated 5-3 last night at the Tropicana Field, to extend the positive run to four straight victories.
Tampa Bay opened the score in the second inning when Zobrist, who hit a 351 foot homer, and Damon gave their side a two point quick lead. Yankees’ first reply came in the next round through Martin who also fired a 422 footer to cut the deficit to one point. The fourth term went scoreless for both sides as the game seemed to a very tight one.
New York evened the situation in the fifth when Granderson grounded into double play and Gardner scored the second one for the visitors with Nunez out at second. Yankees even drew a potential victory in the sixth inning as Rodriguez made it 3-2 after Swisher doubled to center.
Unfortunately for the leaders, that was their last momentum as Rays were preparing for a late run which would give them the win. Joyce hit a 357 foot homer which involved both Upton and Longoria in a triple point that propelled the hosts two points atop and brought them the success.
“I know that both parties involved, Boston and Tampa Bay, are having sleepless nights. They’re hungry. Rather than have to live to through it, I think both want to fast forward it to see what happens. I’ve been there. I’m not pulling for anybody. Chicago White Sox 2 – 1 Toronto Blue Jays
Chicago picked a late win yesterday at the US Cellular Field where the hosts edged Blue Jays thanks to a couple of points scored early and amid the term. Flowers brought the first lead for Chicago in the second inning with a 408 foot homer, while De Aza doubled the advantage in the sixth one, following Pierzynski’s singling.
Finally, Toronto could only score a late point through McCoy who hit a 391 foot homer with two terms remaining. Despite the win, Chicago remain third in the Central with a .491 record including 79 wins and 82 defeats. The victory over Jays was their second in a row, sixth in the past ten games and 36th at home.
On the other side, Toronto are second from the bottom in the East with a .497 percentage which features 80 wins and 81 defeats. The loss to Chicago was their fourth in a row, sixth in the past ten games and 42nd on the road.
