Brewers Prolong Streak To Six Wins, Houston
Milwaukee win sixth in a row
Milwaukee have extended their winning run to six after edging Astros 5-4 on Sunday at the Miller Park where the visitors were given no chance to open a big gap as they could only set a one point lead in the fourth, one they lost immediately.
Lopez brought the first lead for the hosts in the second term, after Betancourt doubled to deep center and then advanced to third on a throwing error committed by shortstop Barmes whose mistake cost their side the poor start as well as an early deficit they never managed to overcome. Lucroy then sacrificed to pitcher as the same Betancourt doubled the advantage in the same inning.
The third term went clean for both sides, while Bourgeois hit a 378 foot homerun, being followed by Altuve and Barmes who made it 3-2, threatening with a comeback they eventually failed to impose. Even more than that, Lucroy doubled to left as Fielder leveled the score right afterwards as the away side wouldn’t get any chance to go ahead of the favorites.
The fifth inning also went scoreless, while the sixth one saw Betancourt grounding into fielder’s choice to third and Braun bring back the lead with Fielder getting out at second. The next term saw both sides keep their sheets clean, but the Brewers still had to work for their win. Bourgeois evened the situation in the eighth round, following a wild pitch by Rodgiez, but their joy wouldn’t last more than a few minutes as Fielder singled to center for Braun’s winner.
Brewers thus cemented their top spot and extended the positive run further. Milwaukee are top spot in the Central with a .550 record which includes 60 wins and 49 losses, the victory over Astros being their seventh in the past ten games and 39th at home. On the other side, Houston lie foot of the table in the same Conference with a .324 poor record, by far the worst in the league, featuring 35 wins and 73 defeats, the loss to the leaders being their third in a row, seventh in the past ten games and 37th on the road.
Said Jason Michaels: “Everybody understands what’s going on. It’s just kind of the way it is. It’s tough to lose a teammate. Again, that’s just part of the business.” A great shaped Fielder looked the happier his side never failed to confirm at home. “At home, we’re always on a good roll, it seems like. So, just keep playing the way we’ve been playing. No matter what happens, we can be happy with that. I think we’re playing good baseball overall.”
Toronto Blue Jays 7 – 3 Texas Rangers
Toronto stunned the Western leaders Texas with a tremendous early run which saw the hosts score their points in a row and within the first four terms on Sunday at the Rogers Center. Encarnacion opened the game with a 417 foot homerun, while Bautista doubled the lead right afterwards. McDonald singled to center allowing Molina to extend the lead to three points, while Encarnacion grounded into double play as Rasmus made it four with Bautista getting at second.
Furthermore, Arencibia singled to left for Hill’s fifth point scored in the fourth term, the same round Arenbicia and Davis drew a clear win for Toronto with a couple of more points. From then on the hosts would concede three straight points from Rangers but never lost the consistent advantage.
The fifth term went scoreless for both sides, while the sixth one saw Young double to right, allowing Hamilton to cut the deficit to six points. Napoli then singled to center as Young made it 2-7, but the Rangers were still far from threatening their opponents with a leveler. The next term also went clean, while Hamilton scored the last consolation for Texas, after Napoli doubled to center in the eighth.
Despite the win, Jays remain second from the bottom in the East with a .509 record which includes 55 wins and 53 losses, the victory over Rangers being their sixth in the past ten games and 28th at home. As for the Rangers, they remain top spot in the West with 61 wins and 48 defeats, the loss to Toronto being their fifth in the past ten games and 27th on the road where they have just switched negative (26-27).

A late comeback allowed the leaders to grab a hard fought victory, set in the first extra-inning. Philadelphia got the first lead in the first term through Ibanez who fired a 418 footer as his side managed to hold the advantage for three innings.
Paul then singled to left, allowing Wood and Fryer to provide the turnover and give their side a 2-1 lead. Rollins then singled to center as Schneider and Martinez brought back the lead for the favorites in the same term. But Pittsburgh broke back in the sixth term through Overbay who hit a 362 foot homerun and Walker made it 4-3.

Finally, the end belonged to the same Philadelphia who scored the winner through Pence, following Ibanez’s right doubling.

Oakland Athletics 7 – 3 Minnesota Twins
Oakland have started to build streak when they captured an easy win against Twins on Sunday at the O.co Coliseum where the hosts were led 0-3 early in the meeting, only to develop a consistent rally which saw them score all the seven points in a row, without conceding any until the end. In fact all the points were scored within the first four terms, six of which within the third one, only.
Mauer grounded out to second in the first inning, allowing Revere to bring the first lead in what seemed to be a great day for the visitors. Valencia then singled to center, allowing Cuddyer to double the lead with Thome getting to second. The second round went scoreless for both sides, while the third one saw the same Thome fire a 395 footer for a 3-0 lead the hosts would dispel immediately. Crisp reached on infield single to second, while Weeks cut the deficit to two points in the same third inning.
Even more than that, Willingham singled to left as Crisp made it 2-3 with Matsui getting to second, resuscitating his side for more. Oakland leveled the score through Matsui who made it 3-3 after Jackson singled to left as Twins were losing more pace. Willingham and Jackson brought the first lead for Oakland after Sweeney doubled to left and then advanced on throw.
Sweeney scored the last point of the term after Pennington singled to right as things started to look clearer despite six more innings were left to be played. Finally, Matsui hit a sacrifice fly to left, while Sizemore had the last word, making it 7-3 in the fourth inning for an early win.

Chicago White Sox 3 – 5 Boston Red Sox
The East leaders Boston won the Sox clash thanks to a late comeback which saw the visitors scored their last three precious points in the last three innings on Sunday at the US Cellular Field. Varitek hit a 412 footer in the second inning, while McDonald followed him right afterwards, making it 2-0 to the favorites who would lose their lead in the next two terms.
Morel doubled to center as Flowers cut the deficit to one point in the same term. Rios then singled to left, allowing Quentin to even the situation in the third term with Dunn getting to second as things were about to get more complicated for the away side who conceded yet another one in the fourth round through Backham who gave his side the first lead after Ramirez singled to center.
But Chicago was unable to hold their lead, being overcome in the seventh by Scutaro and Ellsbury who brought back the lead for Boston, following Pedroia’s center singling. The eighth term went scoreless for both side in what seemed to be a crazy end on the Field. Finally, Gonzalez doubled to right as Ellsbury scored the last point for a 33rd away win.
