Porto have already qualified for the next term’s Champions Leauge group stage after winning the championship.
Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham had been among the main candidates for the striker earlier this summer. Blues’ new coach Andre Villas Boas had looked keen to bring either Falcao or Hulk on Stamford Bridge, but Portuguese manager eventually failed to sign a big name player. Nevertheless, Chelsea are still one week left to do so as midfielders have become a main priority in West London.
Arsenal lost both Cesc Fabregas and Gael Clichy are very close to losing Samir Nasri, the Frenchman being desired by Manchester City’s manager Roberto Mancini. Tottenham have switched their focus on City’s Emmanuel Adebayor as Harry Redknapp is still looking for a solid striker in front. Spurs are very close to leaving playmaker Luka Modric sign Chelsea, though the transfer has not been confirmed yet.
