Danish tournament. The world champion will next meet Alberta Brianti who has also made the progress when she edged Zuzana Kuvoca in the previous round.
Wozniacki managed to overcome a 2-5 deficit which could have found the Dane led 0-1 in the opener. Fortunately, she succeeded to push the first set into tie-break, surviving an unexpected scare she couldn’t foresee initially. Thus, Wozniacki powered form behind to win three games in a row and make it 5-5, while Kerber could only witness her own ruining. But the second set showed the same German earning back the confidence and breaking Dane early in the term to go one game ahead.
Unfortunately, she was unable to take advantage of a second crucial lead which could have helped her to even the meeting. Caroline cut the deficit again, going three games ahead and clinching a hard-fought victory. Kerber had two set-points in the opener, but failed to convert them as she mocked every single chance to stun the defending champion.
