Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary, Neera Yadav on Tuesday was convicted by the Central Bureau of Investigation court. Yadav was sentenced to four years of imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 50,000, after she was found guilty in connection with the Noida land scam.
Yadav was convicted under sections 120B and 131D of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The Court also held the Flex Group Chairman Ashok Chaturvedi, to whom Yadav had willfully allotted seven acres of land, guilty and had awarded him four years of imprisonment.
According to sources, the Supreme Court had ordered the CBI to register the case. After an order passed by the Supreme Court last October, Yadav was removed from the Chief Secretary post.
The Supreme Court came up with the removal orders, after a Public Interest Litigation was filed by the Centre, which had challenged her appointment, as she was accused of corruption charges in the land scam.
