Mancini Confirms Tevez's Departure
Tevez likely to split with City
Carlos Tevez’s days at Manchester City are numbered, according to the team manager Roberto Mancini who has revealed that the 27-year-old Argentine is likely to make the return to his former Brazilian club Corinthians later this month.
The striker, who seems to have received club’s accept to split with the Eastlands side, is expected to accomplish his dream of joining his family in South American, being known his wish to take care of his two daughters. Tevez is thus to split with City after two successful years which included 43 goals. The forwarder finished this past season as top scorer in Premier League with 20 goals, the same as United’s Dimitar Berbatov. Carlos scored his 43 goals in 63 games with Mancini’s side with which he also won the 2011 FA Cup and whom he helped to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage.
Said the Italian coach: “We have an agreement with Corinthians but Carlos now is still a City player.” Tevez’s agent Kia Joorabchian had also confirmed at one point player’s wish to move abroad. “His dream and mine is to see him back with Corinthians. He said he has a job that does not end there, he wants to return because he has the dream of winning the Copa Libertadores. Negotiations have already begun. Corinthians are in contact with us.”
Roberto Mancini is now confronting with the attack line which is likely to remain stripped even of Emmanuel Adebayor who is desired to stay at Real Madrid. City have only made two important moves, bringing defenders Stefan Savic of Partizan Belgrade and Arsenal’s Gael Clichy on a four-season contract, each. As for the 27-year-old Togolese, who scored eight goals in sixth months on Santiago Bernabeu, he is keen to remain a Madrileno after Jose Mourinho himself showed his interest to keep him in Spain.
Unfortunately for the player, who said he is desperate to play in La Liga, the two sides have not come to an agreement so far, something which must concern him, given the fact that the transfer window is about to end. Mancini hasn’t looked interested in bringing back Adebayor, but he might do it, taking into account that City aren’t likely to sign Atletico Madrid’s revelation Sergio Aguero who already is in Eastlands’s radar.
Aguero, who scored 20 goals this season for Atletico, is likely though to join former Italian champions Juventus, according to his agent who had initially confirmed that the Argentine has plenty of chances to move in Italy. Juve, who brought AC Milan Andrea Pirlo and a new coach, are eyeing the European competitions, reason for which they are desperate to sign the 23-year-old Aguero who is also desired by Real Madrid, Chelsea and City.
Manchester gathered 71 points last season, the same as former defending champions Chelsea, and have already secured a berth into next term’s UCL group stage. As for Tevez, he is to get a second mandate with the Corinthians for which he had previously scored 25 goals in 38 games.
