Stevie Wonder, Joss Stone and Jamiroquai in the extra day of Rock in Rio

September and October will bring many pleasant surprises for those who travel to Rio de Janeiro. On September 23-25 and then again from September 30th to October 2nd, the annual festival Rock in Rio 2011 will be held in Rio de Janeiro.
These are two consecutive weekends and, in both cases, concerts will be held Friday through Sunday. However, since tickets were almost sold out, it was decided to add an extra day to this famous festival. Rock in Rio 2011 will have an extra day of music and fun, which is planned for Thursday, September 29th, 2011.
On Friday July 15th, the schedule for this additional day of Rock in Rio 2011 was finally released. Some of the most popular artists performing on that night will be Stevie Wonder, Jamiroquai, Joss Stone and Janelle Monáe. Accompanying them, artists such as Afrika Bambaataa, Marcelo Jeneci, Curumin and Masters At Work, among others, will also be present on the stage.
The well-known Stevie Wonder, is one of the biggest music icons in the world. This year, Wonder celebrated his 50th anniversary in his music career, during which he has authored several popular classics such as “Isn’t She Lovely,” “Sunshine of My Life,” “Superstition” and “I Just Called to Say I Love You,” among others. These songs have meaning to Stevie a large number of Grammys (25 to date). This is one of the artists of all times who have sold more albums, with nearly one hundred million copies sold as of today.
Just before Steve Wonder’s performance, the stage will be all for the band Jamiroquai, one of the best current representatives of British acid jazz. Other artists performing will be Janelle Monae and Symphony Concert Legião Urbana, which is composed of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra and former members of Renato Russo: Marcelo Bonfa and Dado Villa-Lobos, as well as other guests. A fifth performing band or solist will be announced shortly.
Before the show of Palco Mundo, British singer Joss Stone will be the only one to perform as a soloist at the Palco Sunset. Also Afrika Bambaataa, one of the “creators” of hip hop, will perform in Palco Sunsent, sharing the stage with Paula Lima. That same day, the samba singer Diogo Nogueira Moraes will perform together with David Ball do Simonal, who will bring along Max de Castro and Wilson Simoninha. The opening of the night will be in charge of Sunset and Marcelo Jeneci Curumin.
But there’s more: when it comes to electronic music, the main attraction of the evening will be the duo Masters at Work, one of the greatest phenomena of house music, composed by “Little” Louie Vega and Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez . Before their performance it will be the turn of Mary Olivetti, Mario Fischetti, and DJ Zegon. Anyone passing by the Rock Street may see Mark Lambert and Scott Feiner, the tap dancer Stephen Harper, the violinist Arnold and Brandão and the quartet called Saxophonia.
The official sale of tickets for the extra day of music and fun at Rock in Rio began this past Saturday, July 23 at 00h01 am, but only through the institutional website of Rock in Rio. Tickets still have a cost of 190 reais, the Brazilian currency, for a full ticket, and 95 reais for a half ticket. Purchases can be made by credit card and in up to four installments without interest. As happened in previous sales, there is no convenience or service charges, and the sale is limited to four tickets per ID in the case of half tickets.
