Mount Bromo Activities Keep Increasing

Indonesian Vulcanology says that since Sunday there were strong pressure seen from the one of Bromo crater pushing more and more of dark flume of ash. The flume started on November 26 as high as 500 to 600 meter and have increased ever since. Spreading towards southwest where Malang regency is.
Bromo is known as a popular tourist destination. The Government have closed some of the roads towards the area since the high alret warning was issued on November 26. However, there are still high platform from safe distance such as Penanjakan summit, Wonokitri and Tosari where tourist can see the crater complete with the ash which made the mountain even more majestic.

The ash cloud have also forced Malang to closed its airport. The airport will stay closed until at least December 4, 2010. The ash is feared to interfere with airplane engine and disturb the route from and to the airport.
“Indonesian Aviation Authority have issued a ASHTAM (Ash Volcanic Hazard To Airmen) warning no 0038/10” says Bambang S Evan, head of Public Communication Centre.
Based on the ASHTAM, a NOTAM (Notice To Airmen) no C0929/10 was issued which order the closing of Abdulrachman Saleh airport.
Bambang says that he will work closely with the Vulcanology Agency to monitor the mountain activity in relation to airport and aviation safety.
