Texas have extended their winning streak to six successes after edging their main followers Los Angeles Angels 4-3 last night at the Angel Stadium there the visitors managed to overcame a two points deficit set early in the game by the opponents.
Kendrick grounded out to second in the first inning as Bourjos brought the first lead for his side as just. Hunter then doubled the advantage following Trumbo’s double to center. The next three rounds went scoreless though for the two sides, while the fifth one saw Rangers cut the deficit to one point through Andrus, who scored the last point for the visitors after Hamilton singled to center.

Houston Astros 4 – 3 Chicago Cubs
Astros grabbed a hard fought win yesterday at the Minute Maid Park where the hosts edged Houston after providing a couple of turnovers. Astros managed to come from behind every time they were led by the opponents. The first two innings went scoreless for the two teams, while the third one saw Chicago take a two point quick lead thanks to Ramirez’s 422 foot homerun and Berney’s second point scored in the third.
Houston broke back immediately through Altuve and Martinez who leveled the score after Bogusevic doubled to right, announcing at tight game in Texas. Cubs got back into the lead in the next round through Soto who fired a 385 foot homerun, but that could only arouse Astros’ next two point run which eventually secured them the victory. Downs singled to center, allowing Shuck and Altuve to make it 4-3 with Martinez getting to second.
The last five terms saw both sides keep the sheet clean and Astros grab a crucial win, their 21st at home. Despite the win, they remain foot of the table in the Central table with a .323 poor percentage, by far the worst in the league, which includes 40 wins and 84 defeats. The win over Chicago was their second in a row and third in the past the games.
On the other side, Cubs are well above the Astros with a .435 record featuring 54 wins and 70 losses, the defeat to Minute Maid being their second in a row, fifth in the past ten games and 37th on the road. They remain though 19 gamesback behind leaders Brewers and five behind Pittsburgh who are above them.
Oakland Athletics 6 – 5 Baltimore Orioles
A five point midway rally helped Oakland edge Orioles yesterday at the O.co Coliseum where the hosts had to overcome a two points deficit before powering through to a three point lead. Orioles were the first to grab the advantage as Hardy and Markakis gave them an early confidence which they lost just minutes later.
Willingham doubled to left, allowing Weeks and Crisp to even the situation with Matsui getting to third, while Suzuki brought the first lead for Oakland in the second inning with a 378 foot homer. Furthermore, Allen tripled to center and thanks to an error committed by fielder Jones made it 5-2. From then on Baltimore could only cut deficits but never get back into the lead.
Markakis hit a 378 foot homerun in the sixth round, making it 3-5, but he was followed by Suzuki who also fired a 393 footer to keep the three point lead safe for Athletics. Orioles managed though to score a couple of more points through Reynolds and Andino, but that was the best they could o in the last moments.
Oakland are third in the West, 16.5 gamesback behind leaders Texas and 9.5 behind second placed Angels, with a .447 record which features 55 wins and 68 losses. The win over Baltimore was their second in a row, fifth in the past ten games and 33rd at home. On the other side, Orioles lie foot of the table in the East with a .388 poor record including 47 wins and 74 losses. The defeat to Athletics was their second in a row, seventh in the past ten games and 39th on the road.
Philadelphia Phillies 9 – 2 Arizona Diamondbacks
Phillies eased past Arizona last night at the Citizens Bank Park where the hosts scored their last right points in a row, four of which within the eighth term. Rollins opened the game with a 406 foot homerun, while D-backs overcame the deficit in the second term through Goldschmidt who also fired a 400 footer, and Young who threatened with an impressive showing.
Unfortunately, from then on they could only witness their own ruining as Philadelphia powered through to an unstoppable run which included eight more points. Mayberry singled to center as Pence opened the session with a leveler. The next four terms went clean for the two teams, but the game was far form looking as a tight one.
Valdez then doubled to center permitting Pence and Mayberry to extend the lead to two points, while Francisco hit a sacrifice fly to center for Valdez’s fifth point. Finally, the eighth term showed the same Phillies thwart their opponents with yet another four point run. Mayberry reached on infield single to third, while Howard made it 6-2 also thanks to a throwing error committed by Ransom.
Schneider singled to left as Pence propelled his team mates five points ahead with Mayberry getting to third and Valdez to second. The same Mayberry and Valdez opened the game with a couple of more meaningless points, giving the leaders a comprehensive win in front of a 45,000 warmly crowd.
Philadelphia are top spot in the East with a .653 impressive record which features 79 wins and 42 losses, the win over the West leaders being their seventh in the past ten games and 43rd at home. Concerning D-backs’ route, they also remain first in their Conference with a .561 percentage incorporating 69 wins and 54 defeats. The loss to Phillies was their second in the past ten games and 28th on the road.
Colorado Rockies 12 – 5 Florida Marlins
Rockies crashed Marlins last night at the Coors Field where the hosts provided a walk in the park past the bottom Florida whom they dominated from the very first inning. Colorado scored their first five points in the first term and the next six in the third one as Marlins were only allowed to score five late consolation points.
Fowler brought the first lead for Colorado after Gonzalez singled to center, while Gonzalez doubled it right afterwards. Iannetta then doubled to center as Tulowitzki, Smith and Nelson extended the advantage to five points. But Rockies did not stop there as things were about to get much wilder for Florida. Iannetta singled to left as Helton made it six, while Cook singled to for Nelson’s seventh one.
The same Iannetta, Gonzalez, Fowler and Ellis suggested a humiliating defeat for the visitors, making it 11-0 in the third term. Florida were allowed though to cut the deficit to eight points in the eighth term, but Colorado finished their job in the same round when Young singled to right for Fowler’s fifth point of the clash.
Marlins scored their last two points in the last round through Sanchez and Wise. Florida remain foot of the table in the East with a .463 record which includes 57 wins and 66 losses, the defeat to Colorado being their eighth in the past ten games and 27th on the road where they have set a much better performance this season than the ones at home.
As for Rockies, they are third in the West, 12 gamesback behind leaders Arizona and 9.5 behind second placed Giants, with a .464 percentage featuring 58 wins and 67 losses. The victory over Marlins was their fifth in the past ten games and 30th at home where they are still negative, by the way.
Seattle Mariners 1 – 5 Toronto Blue Jays
Toronto picked a comprehensive win last night at the Safeco Field where the visitors eased past Mariners thanks to a remarkable first half which saw them score four of their points in the first four terms. Encarnacion opened the meeting with a 383 foot homerun hit in the second term, while Lind, who also fired a 364 footer, Molinda and Bautista extended the advantage to four points immediately.
For more safety, Rasmus homered a 393 footer in the fourth term as Toronto only allowed Seattle score a consolation point from then on. Gutierrez doubled to center allowing Suzuki to score the last point of the meeting in the sixth round. Toronto remain second from the bottom, despite the win, with a .512 record which includes 63 wins and 60 losses, the victory over Mariners being their second in a row, sixth in the past ten games and 32nd on the road where they have finally switched positive.
On the other side, Seattle are foot of the table in the West, sitting 18 gamesback behind leaders Texas, with a .434 record incorporating 53 wins and 69 losses, the defeat to Jays being their second in a row, sixth in the past the games and 32nd at home.
