Phillies blank Washington for 81st win
Phillies have picked the 81st win of the season after blanking Washington Nationals 5-0 on Saturday at the Nationals Park to improve their record to .653, by far the best one in the league.
The first three innings went scoreless for the two sides, while the fourth one saw Mayberry and Ruiz bring a two point lead for the visitors. Pence then hit a 394 foot homerun as Philadelphia were leading towards a clear win in Washington. Finally, Ruiz and Valdez brought the leaders an easy victory after keeping the sheet clean quite easily.
Philadelphia lead the East Conference with a 81-43 record, the win over Washington being their seventh in the past ten games and 37th on the road. On the other side, Nationals are third in the same Conference with a .484 percentage, record which features 60 wins and 64 defeats, the loss to Phillies being their fifth in the past ten games and 25th at home.
Detroit Tigers 10 – 1 Cleveland Indians
Detroit thwarted Tigers on Saturday at the Comerica Park to cement their leading position in the Central Conference. Tigers first grabbed the lead early in the first term through Jackson who gave his side a promising start after Cabrera singled to center. The loss to Tigers was their second in a row, fourth in the past ten games and 35th on the road.
