Once again Japan was hit by a massive earthquake with a magnitude of 6.7 on Thursday. The earthquake struck the same place where a huge earthquake had led to a devastating tsunami in the month of March.
However, till now there were no reports of any damage or injuries. A tsunami warning has been issued by the Japan Meteorological Agency for the region that was hit with the quake, which was cancelled an hour later.
In March 2011, an earthquake with a magnitude of 9.0 had hit the Pacific region, which had led to a deadly tsunami. The disaster had claimed at least 23,000 lives, while thousands of houses, offices, factories and business firms were destroyed.
According to the Japan Meteorological department, the centre of the earthquake was 30 miles off the shore of Iwate in northern Japan at 6:51 am. Due to the disaster in March, most of the coastal are is still yet to recover. Japan is vulnerable to earthquakes as it is located on the ‘Ring Of Fire’, which is an arc of volcanoes.
