Id-ul-Zuha is called Bakrid in the Indian subcontinent. It is one of the important festivals of Muslims which is celebrated all over the country. It is known as the Festival of Sacrifice. There is a tradition of sacrificing a goat on this day.
Bakrid falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah month of Islamic calender. In 2010, Bakrid is on 16th or 17th November. The exact date depends on the visibility of the moon and it also varies from country to country. It is a special day as on this day annual pilgrimage to Mecca is taken up by Muslims worldwide. The day falls approximately 70 days after the end of Ramadan month.
This day is celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion by Muslims. Men and women dress up in new clothes and go to mosques. They offer prayers for the peace and prosperity of all Muslims. Then sacrifice is done in the name of Allah. The sacrifice is done at any time before afternoon and prayers are offered. Poor people are fed sumptuously. Muslims visit the houses of their relatives and friends and exchange gifts.

    i think its clear by now when is bakrid this year. In tamilnadu it is celebrated on 17th & 18th. which one is correct. frankly speaking,i felt 18th was correct though changes are always welcome. kindly clarify as soon as possible thru phone or my email id. 09344403252
