Toyota grabs the headlines

"Landep News"
Toyota Nurburgring
Next week it’s all kicking off over in Germany, as Toyota grabs the headlines and aims to smash the existing electronic vehicle lap time of nine minutes and 1.388 seconds in a purpose built, all electronic vehicle. Powered by two powerful motors, and with light weight batteries made from lithium-ceramics, Toyota’s car certainly looks the part imaged above, and Toyota is hoping they can show the world and indeed motoring fans how far electronic vehicles have come over the last 5 years.
Moving on to numbers, and Toyota’s car has a top speed of 174mph and outputs 0 emissions. Peak power stands at 280KW and the car weighs an incredibly light 970KG, making it indeed very possible for them to break the current EV Nurburgring record.
On the upcoming record, TMG General Manager Electric & Electronics Ludwig Zeller has said: “We want to demonstrate the high level of performance which can now be reached with an electric powertrain, not only in motorsport terms but as part of TMG’s existing development work on road car EV technology. There is no more evocative place to illustrate this performance than on the Nordschleife. Our target is to beat the existing record by more than just a few seconds because that will demonstrate just how far our technology has developed since TMG began working on KERS systems in 2007. Many people are still dreaming of an electric future for motorsport; at TMG we believe this is much closer than some think and we intend to show what can be achieved with a high-performance electric powertrain.”
We’ll be back with results to let you know how Toyota get on.
