Mourinho Considers Quitting Real Madrid
Mourinho feels the lack of support at Real
Jose Mourinho’s days at Real Madrid are numbered, according to the coach’s spokesman Eladio Parames who has revealed the Special One might consider his departure from the Santiago Bernabeu due to the lack of support from the club’s board.
The 48 year old has joined the Spaniards back in 2010 and has only won one important trophy, the Cuopa del Rey. Mourinho failed to lead his side through the UEFA Champions League final last year as Real were ousted by the arch rivals FC Barcelona in the final four term. Real finished the 2010-2011 season second, well behind the same Catalans who beat Mourinho’s side 5-0 in the first left.
Portuguese’s performance against Barca includes a 1-0 win in the King’s Cup, three draws and three defeats, the last loss coming from this month’s Spanish Super Cup. Said Parames: Jose does not feel the support of the board and is thinking about leaving the club.”
Mourinho has come to the Bernabeu to win the third UCL Champions League trophy, but his best European performance at Real remains the last term’s semi final. The lack to performances must have made the board lose their confidence in the Portuguese whose future has become uncertain there.
Winner of two UCL trophies with FC Porto and Inter Milan, Mourinho was considered the best choice for the Spaniards two years ago. They are likely now to lose the Portuguese after just two seasons which didn’t bring any important achievements.
Mourinho has not spoken yet about his quit, but it has already become clear things won’t look the same next season. Real Madrid should have made their debut in the new season with a match against Athletic Bilbao, but players’ strike made the Spanish League postpone the start for next weekend.
The Special One was part of an ugly incident in the Super Cup last week. Mourinho poked Barca’s assistant coach Tito Vilanova in the eye following Marcelo’s tough challenge on Cesc Fabregas, incident which led to a rough fight on the edge of the pitch between the two sides’ staffs. Since then the Special One has become victim of wide criticism from the many.
Pep Guardiola even accused him of messing the Spanish football with his improper conducts. On the other side, Mourinho is not willing to apologize for the Vilanova incident. Jose doesn’t ask for forgiveness. He is very clear that he is defending Madrid. All he is interested in is his work and to make sure that the club where he works wins as many titles as possible,” said Parames at the moment.
Speculations see the Portuguese manager accept a deal from Arsenal, given Arsene Wenger’s poor season start. The Gunners have already lost two important names including Cesc Fabregas and Gael Clichy. Samir Nasri might become the third cornerstone to pack with the Emirates side, with Manchester City a main destination.
