Kuyt Excludes Inter Move
Kuyt to stay at Liverpool
Dirk Kuyt, who has been made to fight for his place in the first XI at Liverpool, especially after Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll’s arrivals, has denied the rumors he might sign Inter Milan.
The 31 year old Dutch striker signed a two year deal with Liverpool three months ago, deal which keeps him on Anfield until the 2-13 season. Kuyt has played just 90 minutes for the Reds since the new season started as Suarez has been his main replacement. Kuyt joined Liverpool back in 2006 and has scored 49 goals in 176 games with the Anfield side with which he won’t split that easy.
“I didn’t extend my contract for two years three months ago for nothing. You don’t do that if you have the intention to go away quickly,” he said. “As far as I know there is nothing true about this. I am very happy at Liverpool.”
Kuyt played in Liverpool’s both games against Sunderland and Arsenal, but the Reds scored all their three goals without him on the pitch. This might concern the veteran who is no longer a key piece in Kenny Dalglish’s side, the more Suarez has proved to be crucial for the Reds. The Uruguayan, who came at Anfield last year, has scored two of Liverpool’s three goals this season, so his future is likely to be a very promising one.
Sitting on the bench does not seem to concern the Dutch too much as Kuyt said that this situation has got nothing to do with a potential move from Liverpool. Inter Milan have widely linked the English side, but no agreement has been set between the two clubs.
Liverpool finished the 2010-2011 season fifth and has qualified for the Europa League group stage. Inter Milan, who might lose Samuel Eto’o, are focused on signing another big name striker. Meanwhile, defender Lucio extended his deal with the Nerrazzuri until 2014, while Inter’s president Massimo Moratti has revealed the Italians are interested in Carlos Tevez’s services, as well.
The 27 year old Argentine, who is still keen to sign a South American side, booked a presence in City’s game against Tottenham on Sunday. Roberto Mancini was not firm on Argentine’s situation, so the Italian might allow him to pack if he wants to.
Inter are also hunting Ezequiel Lacezzi and Atletico Madrid’s veteran Diego Forlan. Inter are very likely to loose Eto’o who has been linked by Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, who released an offer even for Santos’ revelation Neymar.
Manchester City’s striker Craig Bellamy is believed to be wanted by Kenny Dalglish at Liverpool, but neither of the two English sides has revealed anything. The 32 year old was loaned to Cardiff City last season, and is no longer part of Mancini’s future plans at the Etihad.
