Triumph comes to India soon; Conducts market surveys
The Indian motorcycle market is getting sizzling hot. While major players like Ducati, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda and Harley Davidson already have their hands in the superbike pie, it is imperative for other global biggies to follow. Accordingly, the next manufacturer in line to enter the Indian market is the Triumph from Great Britain. The CEO Triumph Motorcycles UK, Nick Bloor confirmed “India is a very important motorcycle market and Triumph has assessed it carefully before deciding to step in. We see it as the next step in our global business model,” And Mr. Bloor is putting his money where his mouth is. With market researchers busily collating surveys it seems like Triumph is truly on its way to India. Triumph Speed Triple
The English brand will enter the market via an Indian link, Mr. Ashish Joshi. Previously the head of Royal Enfield Europe, Mr. Joshi has been appointed as the Managing Director. With motorcycling history that goes back more than a hundred years ago, the company has a huge global portfolio. Although it is not possible for Triumph to lineup its entire portfolio, we can expect popular models like the Scrambler, Thruxton and Bonneville to make it to the Indian shores via the CBU route. Recently the company was seen testing the new version of the Dayton 675. The bike is expected to be launched by 2012 in Europe which is also co incidental with the company’s entry in India. The question is will it also be India bound? [Image - Triumph Speed Triple]
