Doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) called in for an indefinite strike, after the authorities did not take back one of their colleagues. The former neuro surgeon was alleged that he had harassed an 8 year old boy, but was later cleared of the charges.
The physicians have demanded to restore the surgeon back to his job. More than 200 physicians comprising of AIIMS staff members, medical students and Karamachari Union had flocked in front of the office of the AIIMS Director RC Deka.
The protestors are demanding to reinstate Dr. Shejoy P Joshua. The neuro surgeon was fired by the authorities of the institute on 3rd February 2011, after the relatives of a patient under his cure had complained that he was molested in the physician’s room.
On the other hand the investigations of the police had found that there were many ambiguities in the allegations on the surgeon. Despite the fact the authorities had decided not to take back Dr. Joshua.
