Blast in Oslo
This kind of events are very unusual for North European countries, which makes it even harder to explain. The last such blast was heard in Sweden last year, before Christmas, and had been motivated by the wish for revenge of an Islamic who wanted to punish the country of one of the cartoonists depicting in a ridicule fashion the Prophet of Islam.
No blame was officially ascribed in this blast but it is considered that it was a result of car bomb. If this hypothesis proves correct, than it will be linked to terrorist activity.
Norway participates as part of NATO in the campaigns in Afghanistan and Libya. A few weeks ago the leader of Libya had threatened that Europe would feel the wrath of the Libyans for the attack on their country. It is expected that the Al-Qaeda members stage such actions as retaliation for the assassination of Osama bin Laden by the American forces.
