Mets picked their third straight win last night at the Nationals Park where they defeated hosts Washington thanks to an early momentum which brought them six precious points. Wright hit a 424 foot homerun in the opening round, allowing both Reyes and Turner to bring a three quick lead for the visitors.
Nationals broke back immediately through Ankiel who cut the deficit to two points after Morse singled to right. The hosts would not take any lead until the end, permitting their opponents to dominate the game very often.

Florida would only score once in the sixth round through Lopez who also hit a 340 footer. Finally, Victorino made it five on Dunn’s wild pitch, giving the Phillies their 88th win of the season. Philadelphia sit first in the East with a .657 record which also includes 46 defeats.
The victory over Florida was their seventh in the past ten games and 42nd on the road. As for Marlins, they lie foot of the table with a .438 record including 60 wins and 77 defeats, the loss to the leaders being their third in a row, seventh in the past ten games and 35th on the road.
Kansas City Royals 4 – 5 Cleveland Indians
Indians edged Kansas last night at the Kauffman stadium thanks to an impressive early run which brought the visitors five points in the first four terms. Santana doubled to right, allowing Fukudome to bring the first advantage in the first term.
Thome then singled to center for Santana’s second point, while Cabrera hit a 374 foot homerun, involving Fukudome in a 4-0 lead. Donaldo finished the rally with a 411 footer hit in the fourth term, making it 5-0, lead the visitors would not lose until he last term.
The second half belonged to the hosts who scored four points, insufficient for a victory, though. Escobar singled to left for Perez’s first point and then Hosmer hit a sacrifice fly to center, permitting Cabrera to cut close the gap to there points.
