The Las Vegas Philosophy

The Las Vegas Philosophy
Hunter S. Thompson, the renegade American journalist, wrote a novel entitled “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.” Today, when you book a holiday to Vegas there is little chance of experiencing the type of fear and loathing the counter-culture icon was speaking of. However, the two ideas still exist in this glamorous amusement park in the desert. You will have the fear of losing money when you are gambling, especially if you encounter an unfavourable stretch on the roulette wheel. At the same time, you will loathe the person standing next to you who wins the jackpot. This is Las Vegas philosophy. However, the guy in the polished wing-tipped shoes and seersucker suit who had the nerve to put all his money on double zero earned that jackpot by sheer audacity.
Where to Hang Your Hat
Las Vegas has some of the most sophisticated hotels in the world, and there is no chance of experiencing any fear and loathing when you book a holiday in Sin City. In fact, when you walk down the strip every hotel and casino seems to be vying not only for your credit card, but your attention and admiration. Each casino and hotel tries to outshine its neighbour, offering an array of theatrical shows, nightlife and dining options. Las Vegas is a sprawling theme park, and you need to decide what kind of ride you want before you step foot in the desert.
The Monte Carlo: Welcome to the French Riviera
Taking its cue from the French Riviera, the Monte Carlo Hotel offers 3000 luxurious guest rooms. The hotel has been built to mirror the famous Place du Casino, in Monte Carlo, France, and is an opulent and flawless example of Belle Époque architecture. Marble floors and Neoclassical arches create a sophisticated and royal experience. If you hang your hat at this hotel, then you will certainly feel like the king of Monaco. The hotel has over 95 gaming tables. If you prefer slot machines, then there are over 2000 slots and video poker machines in which to try your luck.
The Third Largest Hotel in the World
MGM Grand is a destination hotel. It is like a sprawling metropolis. The property has a 30 floor main building, complete with outdoor pools and rivers. However, that is just the beginning. It has the largest casino in Las Vegas, as well as numerous nightclubs, retail stores and 19 different restaurants. A pedestrian bridge links the MGM to the casinos across Tropicana Avenue.
Las Vegas is one of the most surreal places in the world to explore. However, when hotels are this large and luxurious simply finding your way outside can be difficult.
