Overtime, a lot of people can find that their ability to clearly hear certain sounds diminishes. One of the things that actually causes this decline is an over exposure to loud noises which let’s face is bound to happen when the world we live in so so noisy. People do not realize how much they are exposed to loud noises during day to day activities and how this continued exposure damages the ear.
When looking at which noises are harmful to one’s hearing it is important to put into perspective just what a normal sound level would be. For instance, a conversation using a normal voice is around 60 decibels, which is common though your average telephone call or dinner conversation.
Now, as I’m sure you are aware there are many sounds significantly above this level that people are repeatedly exposed to for prolonged periods of time. Many garden tools used by consumers produce sounds that are measured at 100 decibels or significantly more. These tools would include lawn mowers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers and other similar power tools. Keep in mind that when using these tools they can be used for a long period of time which exposes the ear to sustained sounds. Many people also like to turn up the volume of their music to block out background noises. This makes it easier to hear music through headphones. What people fail to realise is that they are damaging their hearing.
Your ability to hear declines after each exposure to these loud sounds, however often this damage is short term and after a period of time has passed your normal level of hearing will be regained. However, this only lasts for awhile, and eventually, this exposure will start to cause irreversible effects on your hearing. Well, we can’t stop mowing our lawns or fail to trim trees, so something else must be done in order to protect a person’s hearing. One solution is to wear noise cancelling headphones, or earphones.
Noise Cancelling Headphones and earphones can help reduce the decibel level of continuous noises by simply listening to music at a 60 decibel (or conversation decibel) level. Most notably, the best thing about these special types of headphones is that they work to eliminate other noises. You can actually help maintain your current level of hearing without compromising any of the activities you like to do, or need to do, and by taking this proactive measure you will ensure that your ears will continue to hear at the same rate.
