"Landep News"
Indian former cricket team captain, Sourav Ganguly or popularly referred as the Bengal Tiger has turned 39 today on 8th July 2011. Seems like, the former player has already got his gift on Wednesday, when he was appointed as the vice chairman of the reconstituted Sports Council by the West Bengal Government.
The former cricketer will now be working along with the other renowned Indian athletes like table tennis star Poulami Ghatak, footballers Gouranga Banerjee and Compton Dutta and chess grandmaster Dibyendu Barua.
The players are now a part of the working committee and would help the government by making a blueprint of the progress of sports in the state of West Bengal, India. Ganguly will also soon be a part of the show ‘Ke Hobey Banglar Kotipati’, which is the Bengali version of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’.
Ganguly during his cricket career has proved himself as one of the finest batsman India has ever produced. Under his captaincy the Indian team has performed well especially on the foreign soils. In the year 2008, Ganguly retired from all forms of the game.
