Chhath Puja devotees offer prayers with flooding devotion

The festival of Chhath Puja which extends over a period of three days is celebrated Shukla Paksh’s sixth day during the holy month of Kartik. This festival includes the session of both praying and fasting along with feasting.
The devotees gather together in huge masses and the festival marks the huge rush of people who observe this occasion with full spirited gratitude by coming down to various water spots like canals or even banks of the river Ganga for the completion of the prayer. For this Puja the various canals and banks were beautifully adorned and cleaned so that the devotees could easily offer prayers at this spot without any hindrance. At a canal in Shahstri Nagar the female devotees painted the spot were the Puja Vedi was built.
The male devotees also followed all the rights and rituals of the celebration with the building of the Chhath Mata temples.
The ghats were also lighted up with the Bhojpuri tracks that made the occasion even more vivid and reverberating.
On the eastern side of the nation that is Bihar wherein this festival is marked with utmost devotion the chief minister and also the opposition parties took a two days time out from elections to mark their devotion towards this festival.
Both Nitish Kumar and Laloo Prasad Yadav took out two days to pay reverence to this occasion amidst the high time election procedure. Chhat Puja involves the offering of prayers to the rising and setting sun with the devotees being immersed in Ganga water. This period also involves severe fasting.
