Our first ever review of a Windows Phone 7 handset, the Samsung Omnia 7, was a mixed bag. On the one hand you had awesome hardware, and on the other an incomplete operating system. This verdict from us appears to be pretty spot on too, because Steve Ballmer has admitted that Windows Phone 7 handsets aren’t doing as well as he’d hoped, as reported by AllThingsD. Speaking with financial analysts yesterday, Steve Ballmer is quoted as saying ”We haven’t sold quite as many as I would have liked in the first year” and further added ”With Nokia we have a dedicated hardware partner that is all-in on Windows Phones”.
It would appear then that currently all eyes are on Nokia to come up with the goods for Ballmer. Let’s just hope Nokia’s hardware is gob smackingly gorgeous to complete the next line of Windows Phone 7 handsets, however we have no doubt towards them being good looking, as Nokia hardware has always been top notch compared to other mobile phone manufacturers.
