China’s Car Sales Rise 24%

China's automakers are rolling along and rolling in the dough…sales of 4.58 million passenger vehicles in the first nine months are up 24% over the same time period last year.

Cars – up 26% – 3.44 million units

SUVs – up 52% – 252,000 units

MPVs – up 21% – 165,000 units

September sales were up 16.5% over August.

The top ten brands had a 33% market share, including –

 

Jetta (FAW-Volkswagen),

Santana (Shanghai Volkswagen),

Buick Excelle (Shanghai General Motors),

Camry (Guangzhou Honda),

QQ (Anhui Chery),

Xiali (FAW Tianjin).

The three largest Sino-foreign carmakers -

FAW Volkswagen

Shanghai Volkswagen

Shanghai General Motors.

Chery Motors was fourth.
