D-backs beat Brewers but stay 1-2 behind
Arizona Diamondbacks have picked their first win over Brewers when the West leaders rallied past Milwaukee 8-1 yesterday at the Chase Field where the hosts dominated the game at all facets.
D-backs closed the meeting earlier than expected, scoring the eight points within the first half. Bloomquist was the first to put the hosts into the lead early in the opening term after Montero doubled to center. Goldschmidt then singled to right allowing the same Montero to double the lead and draw the long awaited victory.
The second inning went blank for the two teams, while the third one saw Hart hit a 421 foot homer and cut the deficit to one point. Montero singled to center as Hill brought back the two point lead, with Upton getting to third. The next inning also went blank for the teams as Arizona were heading towards their first success.
Arizona provided the play of the day with a grand slam brought by Goldschmidt, who hit a 383 foot homer, involving all Collmenter, Bloomquist and Montero, as well. As a simple formality, Young scored the eighth one in the same term, giving the D-backs yet another chance to even the series.
Said Brewers manager Ron Roenicke after the meeting: “Montero scares me. Montero is a really good hitter. There’s not a whole lot of places you can go with him. Even when you make good pitches, he’s got a chance to hit. That’s not to say that Goldschmidt isn’t a good hitter, too. What I think he’s doing so well is he’s not missing mistakes. When he gets a mistake, he kills it.”
The two sides meet again on Wednesday at the same Chase Field where Arizona are condemned to win the clash if wanted to push the series into a fifth match decider. Arizona won the West Conference with a .580 percentage including 94 wins and 76 defeats, while Brewers had a better regular season .593 record which featured 96 wins and 66 defeats.
Concerning the other series, Texas Rangers are the first to have secured a second round berth after eliminating Tampa Bay Rays 3-1 thanks to a 4-3 hard earned victory in game four. Philadelphia Phillies also beat St. Louis Cardinals 3-2 to make it 2-1 overall, while New York Yankees have forced Detroit Tigers to game five after defeating them 10-1 in Detroit.
