IDF Jet Raid In Gaza, PA Orders Security to Prevent Violence in West Bank
IDF Jets Raid in Gaza
Israel Defense Forces jets launched an attack on five targets in the Gaza Strip on Friday morning, as a response to the firing of Grad rockets over the last several days from Gaza on Israel’s territory. Before the aviation attack was launched, a Grad rocket exploded near the town of Kiryat Gat, being the third of the kind within 24 hours, and producing no injures and no deaths.
IDF’s spokesperson said that the Israeli aviation attacked three tunnels used for purposes of terror activity, and two terrorist sites, one in central and the other in south Gaza.
The IDF’s statement shows that it will respond to any threat posed to the way of life of the Israeli people, and added that the “Hamas terrorists” were the sole responsible for the shelling of Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip.
One woman was wounded on Monday, when a home-made Qassam rocket hit the vicinity of a kibbutz near Ashkelon.
Israel fired rockets in response to the ones fired on Thursday night, and two Palestinians were reported wounded, without any reference as to whether they were members of the cells that fired on Israeli territory.
Abdallah Azzam Brigades, an organization that is linked to the international Jihad, took responsibility for the attacks on Israeli territory.
According to Israeli intelligence, the Hamas government in Gaza is opposed to this rounds of rockets on Israeli territory and are making efforts to stop them, by arresting many of the militants.
However, IDF does not believe that a general escalation of violence is possible in the next days, though mayors of the towns in the area are making serious defense preparations.
The preoccupation of Hamas to maintain order seems to be consistent with the orders given by the Palestinian National Authority, in the other province where Palestinians live, West Bank, that the security forces make sure no demonstration is allowed in the wake of the proclamation of the state of Palestinians by the United Nations in September.

Intifada
They ordered the security forces to make sure no clashes occur in the West Bank between Palestinians and the Jewish settlers or between Palestinians and the Israeli Defense Forces.
Palestinian Authority relayed the same message to the IDF, stressing that they did not want any escalation of violence following the vote in the UN General Assembly.
Mahmoud Abbas, leader of the Palestinian National Authority, called the people to rally in a march on September 20, in the cities of the Palestinian territories, so that they do not interact with the Israeli army.
The march is scheduled to take place as the UN deliberates on the fate of the Palestinian state. On Thursday, the Arab League announced that it would support the plan of the Palestinians to seek recognition of state.
According to polls, people in the West Bank have no interest in a renewed Intifada, but want the recognition of their state at the UN, and the growth of economy and the establishment of state institutions.
Still, the situation could go out of control even on September 20, as there is an entire generation in the West Bank that is using social networks and is inspired by the Arab Spring. These people are expected to offer a popular resistance that could easily degenerate if provoked by any hostile act.
The leader of Hamas in the West Bank announced, upon exiting prison, after serving a six year term, that the idea of going to the UN for statehood recognition was bad and lacked substance.
